Department Profile
Forsyth County EMS (FCEMS) provides 24 hour-a-day advanced life
support, pre-hospital emergency medical care for a population of
over 306,000 in a 410 square mile area. With an annual call
volume in excess of 36,000 responses, FCEMS operates a minimum of
thirteen (13) ALS ambulances and two (2) ALS Quick Response Vehicles (QRV's) each day.
Separated into five (5) Divisions
(Administration,
Operations, Training,
Equipment and Billing),
the Department has approximately 106
full-time career employees, 20 part-time career employees and fifteen 15 EMS Reserve personnel. In excess of
90%
of FCEMS full-time personnel are National Registry EMT-Paramedic certified. The
Operations Division works a combination of 24/48 and 12
hour schedules.
The Training Division works a 12 hour schedule. Established in 1968, Forsyth County EMS has grown from a small, basic life
support provider into a high-volume, EMT-Paramedic service. FCEMS was
awarded Model System Status by the North Carolina Office of EMS in
2003.
